Data Manager
Overview
The Data Manager is to drive a data culture forward within the school by coordinating the efficient utilisation of the school’s student information management infrastructure (e.g. PowerSchool, OpenApply, MaiaLearning, SchoolsBuddy, PowerTracker) in order to support the school’s mission.

LEADERSHIP AND SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Data Strategy Development: Collaborates with senior management to develop a comprehensive data strategy that aligns with TES goals and objectives. This includes determining data priorities, defining data-related KPIs, and outlining data governance policies.
Data Governance: Establishes and enforces data governance policies and procedures to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and compliance with relevant regulations. This involves creating data quality standards, data classification, access controls, and data retention policies.
Data Collection and Integration: Oversees the collection, integration, and transformation of data from various sources, ensuring that data is gathered efficiently and accurately. This will involve working across sections and departments to set up data pipelines and integration processes.
Data Quality Assurance: Monitors data quality and implements measures to identify and rectify data inaccuracies, inconsistencies, and errors. This includes conducting regular data audits and implementing processes for data validation and cleansing.
Responsibilities
- Assesses and develops long-term strategic goals for all of the schools databases in conjunction with the Director of IT.
- Works with the application development staff to develop database architectures, standards, interoperability and quality assurance policies and procedures.
- Communicates with section/department stakeholders (data anchors) and representatives in order to determine the nature of the data that requires collection and processing.
- Assists with the collection and version tracking of the various data-related procedures in place.
- Interprets information received from data sources and reports findings back to key stakeholders.
- Proactively assists with the gathering of updated and relevant information and procedural details to preempt potential future challenges.
- Coordinates with section/department stakeholders and representatives (data anchors) to support the entry and maintenance of student data.
- Audits data management activities for accuracy and completeness of major components of student data including, but not limited to, attendance, marks, timetables, reports and transcripts.
- Supports the integration and ongoing development of relevant data, processes and procedures into the school’s information management infrastructure (systems include but are not limited to PowerSchool, OpenApply, MaiaLearning, SchoolsBuddy, PowerTracker).
- Coordinates with sections with building academic and administrative report data models and designs based on gathered specifications.
- Coordinates with section stakeholders to establish report cycle templates for data collection and data analysis.
- Coordinates with section stakeholders (data anchors) to extract, manipulate, and manage data to generate reports and the analysis of student demographics, attainment, and student progress.
- Coordinates with section stakeholders to ensure that external assessment data (not limited to GL, IGCSE, IB, and No More Marking) are imported and incorporated into student profiles.
- Collaborates with section stakeholders (data anchors) to maintain student document storage, and access to report cards via the PowerSchool Parent Portal.
- Coordinates with the cross-section timetabling committee and senior developer to create and manage EPC/ESC timetables.
- Coordinates with section stakeholders (data anchors) adjustments of academic timetables throughout the year.
- Collaborates with sections to maintain teaching and timetabling information and migration of existing records to new year groups.
- Collaborates with section stakeholders (data anchors) to facilitate student subject choices, class assignments and distribution of block numbers.
- Collaborates with the admissions department to ensure the smooth transition of data across key platforms.
- Ensures data handover processes for students transferring in and support for transferring students out.
- Generates reports and conducts data analysis as requested by the CEOs office and/or Director of IT to support whole school reporting goals.
- Trains end users, including secretaries, teachers, principals and other administrators on inputting data and properly accessing data from the databases being used across the school.
Qualifications and other requirements
- Relevant qualification in ICT/business administration.
- Experience of working in a data management environment.
- Experience of producing accurate data for reporting and assessment.
- Excellent IT skills.
- Ability to focus on detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Excellent organisational and planning skills including the ability to be flexible in order to achieve targets.
- Ability to work to deadlines.
- Ability to form good working relationships with colleagues and external vendors.
