Overview

The French Section (FS) of Taipei European School is looking to appoint a motivated and student-centred Learning Support Assistant.

The role is a temporary part-time position and will involve working with secondary school (middle and high school) students on either a 1:1, small group and/or whole class basis and working alongside the Special Needs teachers to support teaching and learning. The contract is for one semester, starting in March 2026, and can be renewed if student support is required for the rest of the academic year.

Major Duties and Responsibilities listed may include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Instructional Support: Collaborate with classroom and subject to facilitate an inclusive learning environment and provide instructional assistance to students with special educational needs during whole-class, small-group, and individualized activities
  • Individual Support: Provide direct assistance to students with special needs, helping them stay engaged and on task
  • Resource Preparation and Development: Follow the class/subject teachers’ guidance to organise materials for lessons and activities 
  • Administrative Support: Assist with record-keeping and documentation
  • Enhancing and Organising Department Resources: Contributing to the improvement and organisation of resources within the department, ensuring they are accessible and easily shareable with internal stakeholders
  • Participate in the student review meetings with parents as requested 
  • Participate in training sessions to enhance professional skills and knowledge
  • Flexible Support: Being adaptable to the needs of the department, which may involve providing coverage for other colleagues in supporting students when necessary

Qualifications

TES recruits well-qualified, experienced career professionals.

The candidates need to have:

  • Fluent in French.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Special Education from a recognized University or relevant field, or a qualification/certification in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools or relevant field.
  • A minimum of 2 years relevant experience in a school or similar setting.

Relevant Experience

  • Experience of working in a mainstream international school with a Western pedagogical background would be a significant advantage.
  • Understanding of the Safeguarding principles and willingness to take additional certifications. Familiarity with multicultural settings is a plus.
