Overview

The EAL Teacher at Taipei European School is a front-line leader and facilitator of children’s learning. He/she plays a crucial role in ensuring the provision of an effective educational service to the school community. EAL Teachers at Taipei European School make the education of their students their first concern, and are accountable for achieving the highest possible standards in work and conduct. They act with honesty and integrity; have strong EAL subject knowledge, keep their knowledge and skills as EAL teachers up-to-date and are self-critical; forge positive professional relationships; and work with parents in the best interests of their students.

  • Interviews will be scheduled for the week starting 24th November 2025. 

Please note that a recorded lesson segment of 20 minutes will be required as part of the interview process and should be available for the week of the interview. The lesson should not be more than 6 months old.   


Specific Duties and Responsibilities:  

  • Deliver high-quality EAL support through in-class, small group, and 1:1 teaching.
  • Collaborate closely with class teachers and leaders to co-plan, co-teach, and model effective language-support strategies.
  • Support teachers in developing inclusive classroom practices and appropriately adapted resources. 
  • Monitor and analyse progress, ensuring that learning targets are clear and regularly reviewed.
  • Assess and track student progress, using data to inform planning and interventions.
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to student reports and family communication
  • Provide guidance to families to support language development at home.
  • Contribute to inclusive teaching practices and school-wide professional learning.
  • Uphold the school’s mission, values, and safeguarding policies.
  • Participate actively in school events, meetings, and initiatives that support student learning and inclusion.

Qualifications

  • Recognised teaching qualification and TESOL/TEFL/ELL qualification or additional EAL-specific training
  • Valid government-issued teaching certification.
  • Experience teaching EAL learners in a primary/international school setting.
  • Strong understanding of language acquisition principles and inclusive pedagogy.
  • Knowledge of the British National Curriculum and IPC framework (desirable).
  • Skilled in differentiation, scaffolding, and using assessment to inform instruction.
  • Strong communication and collaborative skills
  • Competence in using digital tools to support learning and assessments
  • Culturally responsive and committed to supporting diverse learners.
