Overview
We are looking to appoint a Temporary Learning Support Assistant who is capable of supporting learning for students of Primary school age. The role involves working alongside the Primary teachers and the classroom Learning Assistant to support teaching and learning for students with Additional Learning Needs (ALN).
Primary Purpose of the role:
- To provide learning support to the designated children
- To provide welfare care for the students
- To support the students with physical/medical needs as required
- To be a named person for providing intimate care
- To provide classroom assistance to teachers

Responsibilities
- Supports students on the ALN register in the classroom using differentiated activities planned by the Class Teacher.
- Teaches students, either individually or in small groups, following a specific programme e.g. social skills, memory training, etc.
- Records progress, behaviour and social interaction of students to indicate areas of success and improvement
- Informs Class Teachers of children’s progress and/or difficulties following in - class support sessions
- Contributes towards the development of programmes and support sessions in the classroom by assisting with collection of resources
- Encourages student’s organisational skills and independence in preparation for lessons
- Assists classroom teachers to implement behaviour modification programmes to develop age appropriate, responsible learning styles and social interaction
- Meets as part of the team to discuss progress and help develop learning targets
- Attends team planning meetings where possible
- Contributes to the writing and updating of ALN students’ profiles
- Audits and updates ALN resources
- Carries out duties according to school policy and procedure
- Performs any other duties, within reason, as designated by the Line Manager and/or Heads of Section
Qualifications
- Degree in Education, Childhood Education, Special Education or relevant field from a recognized University, or a qualification/certification in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools or relevant field.
- Fluent in French and English (essential).
- A minimum of 2 years relevant experience in a school or similar setting.
- Experience of working in a mainstream international school with a Western pedagogical background would be a significant advantage.
- Understanding of the Safeguarding principles and willingness to take additional certifications.
- Familiarity with multicultural settings is a plus.
- The above position is on a local hire contract.
