We’re looking for a passionate Music Teacher to inspire a love of music in our young learners aged 3–7 (EYFS and KS1) and bring music to life across our British Primary Section.

Please note that this is a Maternity Cover position from late October 2026 to the end of March 2027.

Primary Purpose

Teachers at Taipei European School (TES) put student learning and wellbeing at the centre of all they do. They have strong pedagogical and subject knowledge, use technology effectively to enhance learning, and maintain the highest professional standards. TES teachers are reflective practitioners who build positive relationships, collaborate with colleagues, and work closely with parents to support each child’s progress.

Key Responsibilities

1. Curriculum & Lesson Delivery: Teach Music across the school with a primary emphasis on EYFS and KS1. Deliver existing lesson plans, slides, and curriculum frameworks provided to ensure seamless educational continuity, maintaining high classroom standards and child-centered learning.

2. Key Events & Performance Leadership: Lead, plan, and organise key Semester 1 events—specifically including the EYFS and KS1 Christmas Singalongs, major termly productions, and designated school showcases. 

3. Event & Festival Assistance: Assist the Music Subject Leader in coordinating, managing, and delivering internal and external performing arts events (e.g., assemblies, shows, and local/FOBISIA Festival break time rehearsals), which may occasionally require commitments outside regular working hours.

4. Assessment & Progress Tracking: Support the Head of Music in recording and monitoring student progress across year groups using existing school assessment procedures and updating them as appropriate.

5. Community Engagement & External Outreach: Promote Music to the wider school community through musical initiatives, parental involvement activities, and occasional collaboration with external agencies or guest workshops.

6. Co-Curricular Activities (CCAs): Lead music-related CCAs in line with the school’s programme—drawing on choral/vocal experience to select suitable repertoire, direct rehearsals, and prepare students for performances.
