2026-27 Part-time EAL Teacher (10 periods per week)

We are seeking a Part-Time English as an Additional Language (EAL) Teacher to join us from August 2026, teaching approximately 10 periods per week.

The role will focus on supporting students in the French Section to develop their English language skills and confidence.

Primary Purpose

The EAL Teacher at Taipei European School is a front-line leader and facilitator of children’s learning. He/she plays a crucial role in ensuring the provision of an effective educational service to the school community. EAL Teachers at Taipei European School make the education of their pupils their first concern, and are accountable for achieving the highest possible standards in work and conduct. They act with honesty and integrity; have strong EAL subject knowledge, keep their knowledge and skills as EAL teachers up-to-date and are self-critical; forge positive professional relationships; and work with parents in the best interests of their pupils.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

  • Carries out their professional duties under the reasonable direction of the management of the school section, normally a member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT of the French Section).
  • Positively promotes the mission, vision and core values of the school.
  • Performs particular assigned duties in accordance with directions reasonably given by the management of the school section, normally a member of the SLT of the French Section.
  • Carries out duties according to school policy and procedure.
  • Attends all facets of the learning cycle (setting objectives, planning learning experiences, preparing resources, assessing, evaluating for the purposes of informing teaching) with commitment.
  • Uses skills in ICT to support their teaching and wider professional activities.
  • Plans and evaluates learning to meet all designated student needs. Liaises with classroom teachers and/or Learning Support staff where appropriate.
  • Understands the principles and purpose of assessment, and uses assessment as a diagnostic tool to facilitate student learning.
  • Establishes effective professional relationships with students, parents and colleagues based on mutual respect and understanding.
  • Manages classroom/teaching space effectively and safely by establishing clear guidelines and routines and provides a purposeful and supportive working environment.
  • Acts as a positive role model for the school within the wider community.

The EAL Teacher should be the holder of appropriate qualifications for EAL teaching. EAL Teachers should demonstrate that they are effective professionals who challenge and support all students in their learning through:

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s or a higher degree from a recognised university
  • A valid EAL teaching qualification 
  • Minimum of 2 years of full-time EAL teaching experience in a formal school setting environment
