Overview

The Taipei European School-Lycée Français de Taipei is seeking an inspiring and dedicated History and Geography teacher to join our team at the High School level within the Baccalauréat Français International (BFI – American Section). This unique program combines the rigour of the French national curriculum with an enriched international perspective, offering students a deep academic engagement with American history and geography.

The successful candidate must have a university degree in History or Geography,  and be proficient in English with a strong North American cultural background, reflecting the international spirit of the BFI. In addition to teaching History and Geography in English within the BFI pathway, the position also includes teaching English as a first foreign language in both Middle and High School. This is a full-time position, currently vacant.

The candidate must demonstrate solid expertise in U.S. history and geography, taught in alignment with the French National Program and BFI framework. Experience as a BFI examiner is highly desirable. Working closely with a French-speaking colleague who delivers part of the curriculum in French, the role requires a strong commitment to collaborative teaching and disciplinary coherence. While proficiency in French is not mandatory, it will be considered a valuable asset.

Beyond academic qualifications, we are looking for a teacher who genuinely cares for students. The ideal candidate will demonstrate high expectations, adaptability, and a deep understanding of diverse learning needs. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential, as well as the ability to foster a positive, respectful, and explicit classroom environment. A commitment to teamwork, pedagogical innovation, and continuous professional growth is key. Our school places particular emphasis on project-based learning, differentiation, and the integration of digital tools (such as Pronote, Google Education, and MS Office) to enhance student engagement and success.

Qualifications

TES recruits well-qualified, experienced career professionals. The candidate needs to be a qualified teacher and an excellent communicator. The candidate should hold any of the diplomas/certifications below:

  • A Master of Education Degree from a recognised University.
  • A Degree from a recognised University plus either a Post Graduate Certificate of Education (PGCE), CAPES, or equivalent.

A Bachelor of Education Degree from a recognised University will be considered with relevant experience or/ holding a State Board of Education Certification (CAPES, etc.). Outstanding teachers from other backgrounds will be considered if the applicant is willing to learn and work with the TES system and ethos.

Qualifications such as TESOL, DELTA, TESOL, DELF or other Language Teaching are a plus.

Relevant Experience

  • Experience of working in international schools (integrated curriculum - French, British, German, American, Canadian) would be a significant advantage.
  • Familiarity with multicultural settings
  • Teachers should usually have at least three years of teaching experience.
