BSHS_Temporary Chinese Language and Culture Teacher (Maternity Cover)
Overview
The British Secondary and High School Section (BSHS) of the Taipei European School (TES) is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and dedicated Chinese Language and Culture (CLC) teacher for maternity cover. The candidate must be capable of teaching Chinese Language and Culture across the middle and high school years (students aged 11 to 18) to cover a one-year maternity leave. The position will commence from August 2026 to July 2027.
We are looking for a teacher who is excited to join our Chinese Language and Culture team and make a difference in our children's learning. You will need to be a qualified teacher who is fluent in Chinese and an excellent communicator in English. We are looking for someone who gets on well with colleagues, students and parents, has a good sense of humour and wants to participate fully in the life of our school.
We expect the successful candidate to have strong interpersonal skills and excellent classroom practice. They will be approachable, flexible and committed to the success of our students. They will make a positive contribution to the wider life of the school. Our students achieve excellent academic outcomes, with many going on to study at some of the best universities in the world.
TES students come from diverse backgrounds and nationalities and matriculate to some of the world’s best universities. We are, therefore, looking to appoint a teacher who will inspire our students to meet their aspirations.

Taipei European School, as a FOBISIA member, will not employ a teacher who is in breach of contract with another FOBISIA member school. This same professional practice applies equally to all other schools.

Qualifications
TES recruits well-qualified, experienced career professionals. The candidates need to have both (a) and (b) below:
a) A Bachelor of Education or a relevant language-related degree from a recognised University
b) Plus One of the following
i. Qualified Teacher Status for Local Taiwanese Schools
ii. A Master of Education or a relevant degree in a language-related field from a recognised University
iii. A Master of Arts or a related degree with a specialisation in Education or Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language
Candidates with a qualified teacher license are preferred.
